Rubber, springs & hard-face materials

Elastomer & Rubber Products

Complete range of industrial rubber for sealing duty — O-rings, gaskets, bellows, diaphragms, U-cups and buffers. O-ring ID from ø12 mm to ø300 mm, cross-section ø2 mm to ø5.33 mm.

CompoundBest forTemp. range
NBRGeneral hydraulic & pneumatic seals — oil, pressure, abrasion-20°C to 120°C
HNBRGasoline, freon, oil, acid, ozone, alkali — high abrasion resistance-20°C to 180°C
EPDMChemical reagents, hydraulic oil of organic phosphate-50°C to 150°C
Silicon RubberFixed seals needing heat & freeze resistance-80°C to 150°C
VitonHeat, oil & reagents — high temperature & vacuum equipment-30°C to 210°C

Helical & Wave Springs

Helical spring — a coiled wire body that distorts under load and recovers its shape when released, for compressive or tensile duty. Closely coiled (helix angle under 10°) for compression; open coiled where the wire gap allows a larger helix angle. Supplied in passivated SS 302 (general corrosion resistance) and SS 316 (chloride / marine resistance), both rated up to 260°C.

Wave spring — a compression spring made of coiled flat wire with waves built in for spring effect. Occupies 30–50% of the compressed height of a round-wire spring with equal load, giving space savings and lower material cost. Built from a double filament of flat wire, welded together, in plain or squared-flat ends, standard in SS 304 / SS 316 hardened. Used in connectors, clutches, valves, pumps, seals and medical equipment.

Hard-Face & Wear Materials

  • Silicon Carbide — industrial pump, mixer, agitator, cartridge and metal-bellow seals; a direct cross to John Crane and Burgmann faces used in petroleum, chemistry, refinery, paper, pharmacy and power industries.
  • Ceramic — 99.5% high-alumina oxide, resistant to high temperature, corrosion and wear; chemically inert for spacecraft, machinery, metallurgy, printing, dyeing, foodstuff, pharmaceutical and textile use.
  • Tungsten Carbide — high fractural strength, high thermal conductivity and small heat-expansion co-efficient; resists oil below 200°C, sewage water, weak acid, alkali resin and solids with impurity.
  • Graphite — corrosion resistant, self-lubricating, low friction; rated to 200°C in neutral-to-acidic media, or 550°C oxidised / 400°C in neutral-to-alkaline media.
  • Teflon (PTFE) — stable to 300°C (572°F), with good dimensional stability, reduced mould shrinkage and machinability for specialised chemical and industrial service.

Pumps & Separator Spares

Wear parts and spares for centrifugal pumps and separators — sleeves, gland plates, stuffing boxes, drive collars and casing wear rings — machined to the original drawing or to a sample supplied by your maintenance team.

Combine with our thermosyphon systems (SV-TS001) for double-seal buffer/barrier duty in line with API 682 guidelines: pressurises the buffer chamber, compensates leakage, cools the seal and signals low fluid level via an integrated level switch.

Close and stock-type equivalents we also keep on the shelf. Don't see your part number — we manufacture fully customised mechanical seals to drawing.

Not sure which seal fits?

Share your pump make, shaft size and process media — we'll cross it to a Sil-Vex code or design a custom seal to your drawing.
